Joan Elaine Estes

Joan Elaine Estes, 72, of San Antonio, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Born on May 27, 1953, in Port Arthur, she was the daughter of Howard and Myrtle Estes.

Joan devoted much of her life to teaching elementary school, where her patience, wisdom, and caring heart touched the lives of countless children. She had a special gift for making others feel valued and encouraged, and her dedication left a lasting impact on her students. A faithful member of her church choir, she shared her voice and spirit as a blessing to the congregation and was instrumental in guiding youth both in school and through church groups. Joan also cherished her cats, finding great comfort and companionship in their presence.

She is survived by her brother, Doug Estes and his wife, Linda; and her nieces, Jennifer Tucker and her husband, Ryan, Dianna Ralph and her husband, Mike, and Brandy Estes. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Glenn Estes.
