Joan D. Twomey

Joan Dorothy Twomey, 82, of Port Orange, Florida, and formerly of Saco, passed away on March 7, 2026, at Advent Memorial Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Born in Biddeford on September 23, 1943, Joan was the daughter of Ralph and Lorraine (St. Louis) Loranger. She graduated from St. Joseph High School with the class of 1962. In September 2006, she married Jeremiah “Jerry” Twomey. A devoted mother to her daughter Kathy, Joan built a long and varied career. She worked for eight years at General Electric, followed by time at D&G Machine Products in South Portland, and then spent 18 years at Pratt & Whitney in North Berwick before retiring in 2006.

A faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Port Orange, Joan led the ladies’ monthly lunch program. She found her greatest joy in simple pleasures: outings with family and friends, lively game nights at home, and especially the time she spent with her daughter and grandchildren. She was a loving grandmother whose grandchildren meant the world to her.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Twomey, in 2008, and by her four siblings, Ralph “Pete” Loranger, Claudette Faulkner, Connie Verrier, and Pauline Loranger. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Sanborn; her three grandchildren, Sabrina, Stephanie, and Sean Sanborn; and several nieces and nephews.
