Joan Crampton

Joan, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at the age of 87.

She grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, and graduated from Arthur Hill High School. Joan went on to attend Saginaw General Nursing School, becoming a registered nurse. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Michigan State University on scholarship and dedicated herself to teaching nursing students. She served as assistant head of nursing at Saginaw General Hospital, now Covenant Healthcare, before becoming head of nursing at Central Michigan Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, where she worked until her retirement. In retirement, she volunteered with the Isabella County Commission on Aging. A generous giver of her time and talents, Joan donated jackets to those in need, supported diaper pantries, and knitted hats and gloves for many. She was a member of the Zonta Club in both Saginaw and Mt. Pleasant, and she cherished traveling and experiencing other cultures.

She is survived by her sister, Dawn Catenac, her nephew, Kevin Brown, and her faithful companion Bolt and his best friend Cooper. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Nada Crampton.
