Joan C. Schoemig, 88, of Blakeslee, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on February 27, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ida Prainito.
Joan spent many years as a bookkeeper for ADS Metal in Long Island City, Queens, New York, and later worked in the same capacity for Pleasant Valley Motors in Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania, until her retirement in 2004. A longtime member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert, she also enjoyed her time with the Sierra View Senior Connection and loved playing bingo at local volunteer fire companies.
She was the devoted wife of the late Alfred L. Schoemig, who passed away on September 11, 2023. Joan leaves behind her loving children: Phyllis Guzman of Long Island, New York; Daniel Klohe and his wife Kathleen of Rockaway Beach, New York; Robert Schoemig and his wife Barbara of Glendale, New York; and Joseph Schoemig and his wife Kristen of Albrightsville, Pennsylvania. She was the cherished grandmother of Jimmy, Keith, Jessie, Melissa, Robby, Laura, Natasa, Allison, and Piper, and the great-grandmother of MariElla, Christopher, Keith, Kaiden, London, Paris, Sienna, and Chloe. Joan is also survived by her sister, Natalie Innes and her husband George of Patchogue, New York, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Prainito. Joan’s warm presence and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
