Sulphur, LA

Joan Arlene Boykin, a beloved mother, devoted church member, and a passionate caregiver, will be deeply missed following her passing on March 7, 2026. Born on February 28, 1942, in Port Arthur, Texas, Joan dedicated her life to her family and faith, becoming a guiding light in the Sulphur, Louisiana community where she lived.

Known for her warm heart, caring spirit, and forthrightness. Joan was the epitome of a natural caregiver who nurtured relationships at her church, helping the young people with adventures and lending a hand to the elderly. An avid seamstress and painter, she expressed her love for life through her creativity, always finding joy in the simple pleasures and sharing her talents with those around her. Another passion for Joan was fishing and camping with her husband.

Joan's husband, Ernest Boykin, preceded her in death, as well as her parents Curry and Kitty Walker, but she leaves behind a loving family who cherished her deeply. She is survived by her children, Tena Boykin Boudreaux (Pete) and Brent Boykin (Dawn), along with her treasured grandchildren: Ted Sumpter (Shontel), Brooke Duhon (Brennan), Walker Boykin, and great grandchildren, Baker and Ender Sumpter, Brecken and Briggs Duhon. She will also be lovingly remembered by her treasured niece, Dixie Agent (Raymond), and special nephew, Richard Boykin (Tina), as well as her lifelong best friend, Bonnie LeBlanc. Joan was the heart of her family, and her nurturing spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she embraced.

The family wishes to thank her beloved caregivers, Dale and Deanie O'Quain, Lisa Jaetzold, and Cindy Smith, for their kindness and support without whom she would not have been able to spend her last year at home.

A celebration of Joan's life will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Johnson & Robison Funeral Home. The family will welcome guests for a public visitation starting at 4:30 PM. A celebration service, filled with reflections on her beautiful life, will begin at 7:30 PM. Joan will be laid to rest at Mimosa Pines South 568 Belle Moye Rd., Sulphur, LA.

Let's come together to celebrate Joan's remarkable journey and the love she shared with us all.
