Joan A. Casey

Joan A. Casey peacefully entered eternal rest on March 8, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on July 3, 1933, to the late William and Anna Knapp in Garnerville, New York, she grew up in the community where she would later build her life. She graduated from Haverstraw High School and from St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in the class of 1953. Joan began her nursing career at Good Samaritan Hospital in Rockland before meeting and marrying the love of her life, John “Jack” Casey. Together they raised three children and shared many happy years boating on the Hudson River and camping throughout New England.

After her children were grown, Joan returned to nursing administration and retired from Letchworth Village Developmental Center. In retirement, she and Jack became snowbirds, dividing their time between their country home near Cooperstown, New York, and their home near Bradenton, Florida. They enjoyed golf, fishing, and cruising the Caribbean islands and Alaska.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Jill LaMarch; her sons, John (Doris) and William; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Al, and her sister, Kathryn Reilly.
