Jo Henrikson

Jo Henrikson

November 25, 1925 March 5, 2026

Spooner, WI

Georgene E. Henrikson, known to all as Jo, passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 100 in Spooner, Wisconsin.

Born on November 25, 1925, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to George and Esmeralda Marcio, Jo grew up with her siblings Thomas and Louise. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and married Leonard Henrikson in 1949. Together they lived in Minneapolis before moving to Chisago City, Minnesota, where they welcomed their son Jeffrey and daughter Trudy. Later years took them to Pine City, Minnesota, and eventually to Spooner, Wisconsin, where they made their home.

Jo worked as a secretary at a local radio station in Pine City and later as a waitress at the Coffee Cup Cafe and a store associate at the Red Cross Pharmacy in Spooner. She found special purpose as secretary at the United Methodist Church. Above all, she was a woman of deep faith and abiding love for music. A talented organist and pianist, she served her church as organist and pianist for the choir and as a soloist for many years. She generously shared her musical gifts at weddings, funerals, and community events throughout her life. Music was her soul, a gift from God that she offered back in praise and as a way of giving others a piece of her heart.

Jo was a loving, supportive, and understanding mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, as well as a devoted friend. Even as her memories faded in her final years, her love for family remained and her connection to music never left her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, her son Jeffrey Henrikson, her brother Tommy Marcio, and her sister Louise Marcio Shoquist. Jo is survived by her daughter Trudy Henrikson of Moorhead, Minnesota; granddaughter Sammi Haliburton and her husband Hal of Zimmerman, Minnesota; great-granddaughter Ashton Minke and her husband Tyler of Zimmerman; great-grandson Blake Haliburton and his wife Tanya of Princeton, Minnesota; great-great-granddaughter Ryann Minke; great-great-grandsons Emmitt and Archer Minke; daughter-in-law Denise Peterson and her husband Trevor of Hugo, Minnesota; niece Kelly Lund; nephews Steven and Troy Marcio; and many other great-nieces and nephews.
