She passed away on Sunday March 8, 2026 at Saint Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi following a brief illness. Jo Ellen is preceded in death by her mother, Jeannie Jones Butler and an infant brother, James Wilburn Butler. Jo Ellen attended Bonita Road Baptist Church in Mer Rouge, Louisiana and was a longtime employee of Sissy's Citgo in Bastrop.She is survived by her son, Zackary Welch of Bastrop, Louisiana; her father, Jep Butler, Sr. of Bastrop, Louisiana; brother, Jep Butler, Jr. and his wife, Teresa of Mer Rouge, Louisiana; and a host of extended family.Memorial services for Jo Ellen will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 22, 2026 at the Hillview Freewill Baptist Church, 10786 Cooper Lake Road, Bastrop, Louisiana with Bro.
