Jo Ann Herring

Jo Ann Nolen Herring, 86, of Sandy Hook, Mississippi, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Marion General Hospital in Columbia, Mississippi. Born on January 22, 1940, in Arkansas to Leo Nolen and Edith Johnston Nolen, she was preceded in death by her husband, Huey P. Herring; her great-granddaughter, Marlee Ann Spears; her brother, Bob Nolen; and her sister, Margaret Fortenberry.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Herring; her son, Perry Herring (Dana); her grandchildren, Morgan Spears (Cody), Brooke Rowell (Eli), Miles Maliden (London), and Michael Maliden (Victoria); her great-grandchildren, Dalton Spears, Benson Spears, Cole Rowell, Carter Rowell, CarleeBeth Rowell, Mary Hunter Maliden, and Greyson Rouse; and her brother, Charlie Nolen (Mona), along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, Jo Ann found great joy in cooking and baking for her family. She was known for her exceptional fried chicken and chocolate pie. For thirty years she worked as a bookkeeper for the Improve Water Association and remained a longtime, faithful member of Carson Springs Baptist Church.

She will be remembered with deep affection by all whose lives she touched through her quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering love for her family.
