Jirldean Carta

Jirldean Carta, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on August 28, 1934, in Marlow, Oklahoma, she spent her later years in Winnsboro, Texas, where she lived with a nurturing spirit and quiet dedication to her family. A homemaker and caregiver, Jirldean found deep contentment in reading her Bible, researching family ancestry, watching game shows, solving crossword puzzles, and sharing time with those she loved. A lifelong Republican who cherished her country, she was also a longtime member of the Church of the Nazarene in Mineola, where her faith remained a steady guide throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Donald Carta, who passed in 2002, as well as by Martha O’Kelley and Thomas O’Kelley. Jirldean is survived by many nieces and nephews, along with a wide circle of friends and extended family who will carry forward memories of her warmth and kindness.

Her spirit endures in the lives she touched with love, faith, and gentle devotion.
