Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Mar. 17, 2026.Jimmy "Jim" Isaac Romero Barela born January 14, 1942, he left this earth on March 14, 2026, at the age of 84.Jim was born in Vadito, New Mexico, and later graduated from Madison High School in Madison, Indiana. In 1963, he proudly joined the United States Air Force. Where he was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. After his military service, Jim continued his dedication to his country through the United States Civil Service, working in Logistics Management until his retirement in December 2004. Spending most of his adult life in Moore, OK.Jim was a devoted husband, father, papa, and friend whose life was centered on family. He is survived by his wife, Janice Barela; his son, James Barela (Trisha Shozuya); and his sister, Ruby Vasquez. He is also lovingly remembered by Gary (Christi), Ashley (Ben), and Lori (Dustin); his cherished grandchildren Kaylee, Victor, Cheyenne, Grady (Chloe), Cash, Lila, and Archier; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Florida Scudder, Frutoso Barela, John Barela, Samuel Barela, and Manuelita Berry.Jim will be remembered as a strong family man and a friend. He had a kind and patient spirit, a great sense of humor, and a zest for life that touched everyone around him. An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was also a competitive golfer and loved spending time playing pool at the local community center.Sports were another passion of Jim's. He loved attending Oklahoma Sooners football games and cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder. Above all, his greatest joy was watching his grandchildren participate in their activities and celebrating their accomplishments.Jim was also a proud and faithful member of Fresh Start Community Church in Moore, Oklahoma, where he found fellowship and community.Though he will be deeply missed, Jim's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
