Mr. Jimmy Gene Pelfrey, age 88, a lifelong resident of Rockwood, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at his home with his family by his side. He was born September 14, 1937, in Rockwood, Tennessee. Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rockwood where he served as and Elder. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias Oak Leaf Lodge #49 in Rockwood. He retired from Burlington Textile Mill in Rockwood. His life was marked with his dedicated public service, which was his passion. This began with his honorable service to our Nation in the United States Air Force. He continued to serve as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Rockwood Fire Department during the 1970’s through the 1980’s. He served for many years with the Roane County Sheriff’s Office where he served as a Corrections Officer, Dispatcher, and as Bailiff in the Roane County Court. He enjoyed fishing. Most of all he loved his family and friends and enjoyed time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Ruth Pelfrey; beloved wife, Trula “Trudy” Pelfrey; son, Tim Pelfrey; brother, Carl Pelfrey, Jr.; and sister, Sandra Humphreys, formerly of Kentucky.

Greg Pelfrey of Rockwood, TN
Granddaughter: Macey Jones (Ashton) of Coalfield, TN
Great Granddaughter: Posie Blair Jones
An Expected Great Grandson
Daughter-in-law: Heather Pelfrey of Rockwood, TN
Sister: Wilma Shaffer
And several Nieces and Nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church; 429 W. Rockwood Street, Rockwood, TN 37854. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Chris Metcalfe officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, Tennessee with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tennessee is honored to serve the family of Mr. Jimmy Gene Pelfrey.
