Jimmie Manasco-Winfrey ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales, Inc. on Mar. 10, 2026.Funeral services for Jimmie Lou Winfrey, 90, of Portales will be held at 2:00 PM, Fri., Mar. 20, 2026, at the Parkland Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Hohstadt officiating, assisted by Rev. Wayne Boydston. Burial will follow in Lawn Haven Cemetery with Howard Manasco, Kevin Manasco, Miles Manasco, Kirk Manasco, James Manasco, Cole Younger, Connor Younger and Sarah Dixon serving as pallbearers. Those desiring to make memorial contributions in her honor, may send them to the Prince Street Baptist Church Building Fund.Jimmie Lou Winfrey was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Elida to the home of Cordelia Myrtie (Rogers) and James Montgomery Chilton, and passed from this life on Fri., Mar. 6, 2026, in Portales, NM. On May 10, 1952, she was married to James Manasco. When he left to be stationed in Korea, she moved to Oklahoma to live with her brother's family to help take care of their children and it was there that she finished high school. When Mr. Manasco returned, they came back to the Clovis/Portales area and then moved to Amarillo for a short time for her husband to complete training as a barber. They moved back to Clovis and he established a barber shop. In the mid 1970's they established Manasco Construction, and she became the secretary for the business. In addition, she began driving a school bus. Mr. Manasco passed away in 1990, and she closed the business a year later. She went to work as a secretary in the Clovis Public Schools, and later she was a Teacher's Aide in the Portales schools. She retired in the early 2000's.In 1997, she married Kenny Ashcraft, and he also preceded her in death in 1999. In 2001 she was married to Sandy Winfrey. Mr. Winfrey also preceded her in death in 2012. Mrs. Winfrey was a faithful member of the Prince Street Baptist Church where she served as the church organist. She was also a member of the PRMC Ladies' Auxiliary/ Pink Ladies. Her other talents were used in her various crafts, building bird houses and making afghans among other things. Jimmie Lou enjoyed keeping a beautiful yard and flower garden and keeping her fishpond. She also collected crosses.She is survived by two sons, James Manasco of Clovis and Jerald Manasco of Seguin, TX; two daughters and a son-in-law, Helen and Duke Younger of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX and Reba Dixon of Cheyenne, WY; five grandchildren, Cole (Dawn) Younger, Sarah Dixon, Miles (Siobahn) Manasco, Kirk (Stephanie) Manasco and James (Megan) Manasco; and 12 great-grandchildren.
