He passed away at age 71 on March 1, 2026, peacefully at his home in Pocahontas, Iowa.Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda; his parents, John and Ruth (Snyder) Steffens, and his brother, Gary D. Steffens.He is survived by his children, Samara Steffens of Urbandale, Francine Steffens of Council Bluffs, John Steffens of Omaha, NE, Billie Jo Steffens of Algona and Jimmie Steffens Jr. of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Chance Steffens of Des Moines, and Micah and Bronson Steffens of Canton, MN; sister, Joyce Anderson of Omaha, NE; brother, Bruce (LuAnne) Steffens of Griswold, and sister-in-law, Judy Steffens of Atlantic, Iowa.Jimmie worked at Skelgas in Denison, then went to college in Webster City and earned his aviation degree, at which time they moved to St. Clair, MN, working at Owatonna Airport.They later moved to Centerville, Iowa where Jimmie worked as a flight instructor. He ended his career as a manager at the West Union Airport.Jimmie never met a stranger.
