Brenham, TX

Jimmie Deone Eckhardt (Mayton) passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at Brenham Nursing and Rehab in Brenham, Texas, just one day before her 92nd birthday.

Born on March 15, 1934, in Hope (Patmos), Arkansas, to James Sevia Mayton and Opal (Taylor) Mayton, Jimmie married the love of her life, Hans Donald (Don) Eckhardt, on May 21, 1951, in Arkansas. They shared 53 years together until Don’s passing on September 23, 2004. The couple had two sons and a daughter. On August 22, 2009, she married Dr. Donald R. Stafford at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas, and they remained together until his passing on August 5, 2019.

Jimmie had a deep love for gardening and tending her beautiful roses. An accomplished decorative painter, she especially enjoyed painting bluebonnets and proudly displayed her work at her booth in Hermann’s Emporium in downtown Brenham. A longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, she cherished her friendships in Grace’s Ladies Afternoon Circle. Known affectionately as “Honey” by both family and friends, she took great pride in her large family and treasured every moment when everyone could gather together.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Hans (Donnie) and Janice Eckhardt of Needville, Texas, James (Randy) and Bridget Eckhardt of Richmond, Texas, and Kimberly and Michael Parks of Brenham, Texas; grandchildren Zachary Eckhardt, Garrett and Ashley Eckhardt, Amanda and Stephen Parsons, Ava Eckhardt and fiancé Braden Roehling, Tyler and Haley Eckhardt, Brittany and Mark Badora, Brandon and Justice Parks, and Victoria and Dameon Reep; and great-grandchildren Grant, Brielle, Collins and Parker Badora, Cody Pedraza and Alexzander Collier, Reagan, Axel, Briggs and Barron Reep, Maverick Eckhardt, and Jimmie Anne Eckhardt. In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, James S. Mayton and Opal (Taylor) Sockwell, and her sister Carolyn Delaware.
