Muleshoe, TX
Jimmy Doyle Carpenter, age 91, of Muleshoe, Texas, died on March 13, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. Born on November 15, 1934, in Stegall, Texas, to Martin Lewis and Minnie Elizabeth (Mowrey) Carpenter, he married Frankie Pierce in Bailey County on June 6, 1959.
A faithful Christian since the age of seven, Jimmy served as an ordained deacon in his twenties and remained an active member of Hicks Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist Church, and finally Calvary Baptist Church. He worked for many years with the Highway Department while also farming. His lifelong interest in cars led him to build a 1929 Model A from the ground up. He enjoyed watching comedies, Wheel of Fortune, and John Wayne westerns, and he loved walking everywhere and collecting golf balls at the Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Gertrude, Bonnie, Eva Dale, and Hazel Carpenter; and five brothers, Lloyd, Harold, Newel, Donnie, and Bob Carpenter.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frankie; his three sons, Jeffery Carpenter and wife Zanea of Muleshoe, Joseph Carpenter and wife Janie of Muleshoe, and Jeremy Carpenter of Plainview; along with three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
