He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvis Gilbert and Imogene Gilbert; and his son-in-law Jeff Jones. He is survived by: his wife Rita Gilbert; his children, Angie Jones, Allen Gilbert, Jeremy Gilbert (Cindy), Chris Tumlin (Dawn) and Brent Tumlin; his sister Janet Reynolds (David); and his grandchildren, Jaik Jones, Luc Jones, Paisley Gilbert, Cason Tumlin and Cullan Tumlin.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Lusk Chapel Methodist Church (6191 Co Rd 52, Dawson, AL 35963).
