Jerry W. Pelkey

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Jerry W. Pelkey, 73, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with his family by his side. Jerry was born on April 29, 1952 in Massena the son of Winfred and Viola (Barton) Pelkey. He graduated from Radio Electronic Television School in Boston, MA in January 1973. He was united in marriage to Valerie (Currier) Pelkey on July 7, 1973, at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with Right Reverend Louis Gardner celebrating.Jerry retired from Upstate Correctional Facility in October 2017 after 20 years of service.He enjoyed bowling and camping.He is survived by his wife, Valerie, his two children, son, Brian (Stacy) Pelkey and daughter, Kimberly (Barney) White, three grandchildren, Kara Bailey, Kyle Pelkey and Elijah White, one great grandchild, Maximus Mainville, two special cousins, Kimberly and Dan Mayer, several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held on Friday from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 7:30pm at Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, with Rev. Ray Moreau leading the closing prayers at 7:30pm.Donations in his memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Association of North NY or the Epileptic Foundation of Northeastern, NY.Memories can be shared with is family online at www.hammillfh.com.
