Jerry Thurman ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Waldo Funeral Home - Sherman on Mar. 5, 2026.Jerry Thurman, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, entered the gates on Heaven and into the arms of his Savior on March 2, 2026.Jerry was born on June 9, 1952 to Ralph and Evelyn (Peter) Thurman of Trenton, Illinois.He graduated from Wesclin High School and remained in the area until work brought him to Texas in 2002. Pottsboro became his home for the next 24 years. Jerry was a devoted member at Fairview Baptist Church, where faith was an important part of his life. He served as the Coordinator for Texas and West of the Mississippi Church Renewal Journeys, was a deacon at three different churches, and faithfully taught Sunday school for many years.Jerry lived a life marked by hard work, adventure, and a love for the simple joys that made life meaningful. He dedicated 36 years of his career to inventory control, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.Jerry 's legacy will be carried on by his wife of almost 53 years, Dixie (Bain), daughters Andrea (Aaron) Vogel and Rebecca Thurman, grandchildren, Alexandria Thurman-Boswell, Kynleigh Vogel, Kanyon Vogel, Kaydia Vogel, Karlin Vogel, and honorary grandson Westly Snell.After Jerry retired he truly enjoyed life. He had a passion for golfing, cruising, traveling all over the world, and watching grandkids participate in various activities. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with the people he loved most.Jerry touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.His memory will live on in the hearts of family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to share his journey.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
