February 4, 1942— March 15, 2026
Garner, NC
Jerry Lane Wayman passed away peacefully after a brief illness on March 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of his wife, Judy Wayman (née Edwards).
Born on February 4, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, Jerry was raised by his mother, Hildred Watson (née Sifferman). He spent cherished summers as a boy on the family farm in Republic, Missouri, with his grandparents Lewis and Nellie Sifferman. In Kansas City he began his career in computers with Firestone Tire Company and was transferred to Akron, Ohio, in 1964. He went on to earn a degree in Finance from the University of Akron.
Jerry was a loving husband, devoted father, son, and grandson. He met Judy at Premier Industrial in Cleveland and they married in 1990. After many years in Ohio, they moved to Garner, North Carolina, where they spent more than two decades enjoying mild weather and the company of good friends. Together they traveled to visit family and cruised to destinations around the world. In Garner, Jerry found simple pleasures in dining out, borrowing books from the local library, and playing bridge, where his friendly smile and warm presence were always welcome at the table.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; his daughters, Carol Wayman (Elizabeth Carswell), Barbara Wayman (James Jones), Kathryn Dula (Bob Paris), and Lauren Wojcuich (Chris); and his grandchildren, Hailey, Abby, Penny, Jack, Michael, and Emma. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hildred Watson, his stepfather Roland (Ronnie) Watson, his grandparents, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
