Jerry A. Weatherholt

January 22, 1939 March 12, 2026

Stanton, NE

Jerry Arthur Weatherholt, 87, of Stanton, Nebraska, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Parsons House Assisted Living Center in Omaha.

Born on January 22, 1939, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Orin and Ethel (Barr) Weatherholt, Jerry grew up on the family farm, attending Rural District #13 through eighth grade before graduating from Stanton High School in 1956. After two years at the University of Nebraska, he returned home to pursue his lifelong passion for farming and cattle feeding. In 1958, he married Jeanette Pohlman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stanton. Together they raised four children—Scott, Rick, Jane, and Doug—on the family farm, where Jerry farmed and fed cattle for more than 40 years while also working as a seed corn representative.

Jerry’s success in sales allowed him and Jeanette to enjoy many memorable trips. After retiring from active farming, he continued custom feeding cattle and served as a Stanton County Commissioner from 2005 to 2015. A dedicated community member, he was a charter member and longtime elder of Faith Lutheran Church, president of the District #13 rural school board, former president of the Mustang Booster Club, and a longtime member of the Nebraska Beef Club. He loved golfing at Elkhorn Acres Golf Course, held Nebraska football season tickets for over 60 years, and proudly supported his children and grandchildren in their sports.

Above all, Jerry was known for his warm, social nature and deep love of family. A regular at local coffee spots, most recently Wolf’s Den, he cherished daily friendships and conversation. He lived for time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, finding his greatest joy surrounded by their energy and laughter.

He is survived by his children Rick (Bobbie) Weatherholt of Lincoln, Jane (Sean) Pinhero of Omaha, and Doug (Jackie) Weatherholt of Lincoln; daughter-in-law Cheryl Weatherholt of Stanton; sister Ann (Jack) Brestel of Silverthorne, Colorado; sisters-in-law Linda Weatherholt of Columbus, Ohio, Karen Phillips of Omaha, and Jean Pohlman of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, his parents, his son Scott, his brother Bill, and several in-laws.
