February 14, 1942— March 7, 2026
Manteca, CA
Jerrold “Jerry” Zanzi Schluer was born in San Francisco, California, on February 14, 1942, and passed away on March 7, 2026. Preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lina Schluer, and his beloved wife, Una, he was reunited with her in Heaven.
Jerry grew up in San Francisco until age ten, when his family moved to the Willow Glen District of San Jose. He attended Santa Clara University, where he played baseball, and later earned a master’s degree from Sacramento State. A resident of Manteca for 61 years, he proudly served two years of active duty in the United States Army followed by four years in the reserves. For 41 years he served as Chief Financial Officer at Souza Development, earning respect for his integrity, professionalism, and leadership.
A man of deep and unwavering faith, Jerry was a longtime member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served alongside his wife and remained actively involved. His relationship with Jesus Christ guided every part of his life, and he continued his daily devotions until just days before his passing. He enjoyed studying the stock market, traveling with Una to Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, and Pismo Beach, and was a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan. He played softball into his mid-50s and proudly hit the first home run at Northgate Park in Manteca.
Above all, Jerry cherished his family. He is survived by his children, Charlotte Camara (Dave), Sheila Brandley, Jennifer Ender (Jason), and Stephen Schluer (Thaera); grandchildren Christopher, Nathan, Jennifer, Paul, Tyler, Ryan, Mathew, Hannah, Lela, and Collins; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Carol Bacigalupi; and many other loving family members and friends. A devoted husband, father, and “Papa,” he took great pride in supporting his children and grandchildren and found special joy in the companionship of his little dog, Mollie Leilani. He will be remembered for his intelligence, kindness, steadfast faith, and deep love for his family.
