Jeri Lee James

Jeri Lee James, 63, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on March 9, 2026, at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, after facing three courageous battles with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and her close friend Scott Glover, who remained by her side throughout.

Born on August 9, 1962, in Scottsburg, Indiana, Jeri was the daughter of William H. and Emma Jean (Nichols) James, both of whom preceded her in death. A graduate of Scottsburg High School class of 1981, she was known for her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and the genuine warmth she extended to everyone she met. Jeri had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and showed remarkable patience and affection toward them all, with her beloved Issy being the most recent.

She is survived by her siblings: Billy Jean (Garth) Kovener, Mack William “Billy Mack” (Shari) James, Robert Lynn “Bobby Lynn” (Lily) James, Bret Allen (Sandy) James, and Jo Nell (Mike) Taylor, along with her dear friend Scott Glover. Jeri also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as her uncle and aunt, Jim and Joyce Nichols, and their family. Those who knew her will forever cherish the light and kindness she brought into their lives.
