Jerald I. Friedman

1936 — 2026

Newington, CT

Jerald I. Friedman, 89, of Newington, Connecticut, born in 1936 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 12, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Jerry graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in mechanical engineering and worked for many years as a property manager for Stratford Associates. His lifelong passion for aviation led him to open Banner Hobbies in Berlin, Connecticut, in 1986, where he shared his love of model airplanes with the community. A people person at heart, he remained active in retail and sales until the end of his life.

He served in the Army and often recounted stories from his basic training and time in the service. Jerry embraced life fully, nurturing deep interests in aviation, the Brooklyn Dodgers, tennis—which he played avidly until his final days—his beloved dogs, children, world history, classical music, and Jewish culture.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea Friedman of Newington, Connecticut; his three children, Daniel J. Friedman, Brian Friedman, and Debra Raviv (Khen Raviv), all of West Hartford, Connecticut; and his eight cherished grandchildren, Maxwell Friedman (Emily Friedman), Jordan Friedman, Shea Friedman, Izabella Raviv, Ella Rose Friedman, Eden Raviv, Lily Friedman, and Troy Raviv.
