Jennifer Michele Merkle (Reece), 42, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born on April 8, 1983, in Aurora, Colorado, Jennifer lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and deep love for her family, work family, and friends. Jennifer graduated from Overland High School in Aurora, Colorado, with the Class of 2001. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2007. Jennifer built a successful career in the commercial insurance industry, where she became a licensed commercial insurance agent. She took great pride in her work and the relationships she built with colleagues and clients.
Jennifer was passionate about helping others and dedicated much of her time to serving her community. She enjoyed leading fundraising efforts for United Way and volunteered by preparing meals for families receiving services through Judi’s House. Jennifer also organized family gift drives each year in honor of her son, Troy, on his birthday and at Christmas. She and Brad delivered the gifts to the Ronald McDonald House, sharing kindness and comfort with families while honoring Troy’s memory. Those who knew Jennifer will remember her for her open heart, her kindness, and her unforgettable laugh. She brought warmth and compassion to those around her and will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth L. Reece (1992), and her son, Troy Merkle (2017). She is survived by her loving husband, Brad Merkle; her mother, Patricia Reece; her mother-in-law, Mary Kompass, and father-in-law, Ed Merkle; her sister, Lori Reece and partner Kim Phillips; her siblings Darra Merkle, Claire Jeffries and husband Chaz, Glenn Merkle, and Taylor Merkle; her nieces and nephews: Tatum Reece, Faye Higgins, Averi Merkle, Lilli Mancuso, Gwen Lawrence, Julian Ferreira, Theos Mitchell, Saint Mitchell, Soul Mitchell, Seven Mitchell; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014.
