Jennifer Jane Zoeterman

Jennifer Zoeterman, wife of 53 years to Timothy and cherished mother of Sara (Isaac) Zoeterman-Levy and Rachel Zoeterman, passed away peacefully on March 6th. She was a cherished Oma to Jude, Ezra, Cleo, and Avri, who brought her endless joy.

Born in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Jennifer was the daughter of the late Richard and Annette (née Olthoff) Kooy and stepdaughter of the late Eleanor (née Bloem). She is lovingly remembered by her brother Richard (Karen) Kooy and stepbrother Keith (Joanne) Brink. She is preceded in death by her sisters Jo Ann Kreps, Dori (Paul) Boer and her stepsister Beth (Chuck) Leensvaart. Her in-laws Sandy (Dale) VanKley, Denise (Therese Reilly) Zoeterman, Debbie (Ron) Haan, and George (Jane) Zoeterman as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends will miss her greatly.

Jennifer was a gifted and creative soul. She had a passion for quilting, making countless beautiful quilts that were true labors of love, which continue to wrap her family in warmth and comfort. Her passion for fiber arts extended to publishing a book on wool felting, sharing her talent and inspiring others. She loved the Beatles, particularly George, and for many years you could find her humming along quietly while at the sewing machine.

Jennifer’s life was marked by her warmth, generosity, and deep love for her family. As a child the Kooy family moved often and she fondly recounted all of the different cities and houses of her childhood as well as the many friends picked up along the way. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

At Jennifer’s request, no funeral service will be held at this time though a memorial may be arranged in the future. In lieu of a service, shared memories are welcomed and may be sent to Rachel ([email protected], 312-493-2578) to be compiled for the family.
