Preserve forever →Jeffrey "Jeff" Loran Osborne
July 18, 1950— March 12, 2026
Beardstown, IL
Jeffrey Loran “Jeff” Osborne, 75, of Beardstown, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at his home.
Born on July 18, 1950, in Rock Falls, Jeff was the son of Loran Marvin and Edna Jean Rebman Osborne. He graduated from Beardstown High School in 1968 and began his career at Oscar Mayer in Beardstown before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably as a metal technician. He took special pride in helping construct the honeycomb structural components used to support luggage compartments beneath aircraft. After his military service, he returned to Oscar Mayer for another decade, later worked for Wareco in southern Illinois, and eventually came back to Beardstown to help care for his parents.
Jeff cherished time with his family, especially the vacations of his younger years. In later life he found deep satisfaction in fishing, painting vivid scenes of waterfowl and landscapes, and tending his flower and vegetable gardens. He had a particular fondness for dogs and operated Royal J Shih Tzu Kennels, breeding and selling Shih Tzus around the world, even as far as Japan. A licensed handler, he showed dogs across much of the United States and enjoyed raising both Shih Tzus and basset hounds.
A man of deep faith, Jeff was a devoted member of Bethel Community Church of the Nazarene, where he served as a missionary liaison and shared his testimony with boldness and sincerity. He is survived by his brothers, Monty (Janet) Osborne and Robert “Bob” (Sandy) Osborne, both of Beardstown; his special friend, Anita Glydwell; nieces and nephews Jennifer Lewis (Thomas), Monty Jr. (Missi), Timothy Osborne (Jessica), Amy Watkins, John Ladd, and Matthew Ladd; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael Loran Osborne, and his sister Becky Ladd.
