November 17, 1963— March 9, 2026
Minneapolis, MN
Jeffrey D. Hallanger, aged 62, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away on March 9, 2026, at HCMC in Minneapolis.
Born in Minneapolis on November 17, 1963, to Gary Hallanger and Janis Hallanger, Jeff moved with his family at a young age to Brainerd, Minnesota, where he grew up. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1981 and went on to attend the DeVry Institute of Technology in Irving, Texas, in the MIT program. He lived in Plano, Texas, for the next twenty years, marrying Beth Jollif in 1993. Jeff worked as an Information Technology Associate at several companies throughout his career.
Jeff was a loving, caring, and generous man with a big heart who touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was always ready to help family or friends in need, taking them under his wing without hesitation. His great sense of humor and endless supply of anecdotes and jokes could bring a smile to anyone’s face, even when the jokes were not particularly clever. Above all, Jeff was carefree and happy, living life on his own terms.
He cherished time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart. His beloved dogs Jake, Pete, and Clyde, along with his cat Flash, were the loves of his life, and he took them with him wherever he went; he also kept pet bunnies at one time. Jeff loved to travel, making many trips to Amsterdam and the Netherlands, his favorite destination, often with his best friend Eli Roeges. He never missed the large family camping trips that took them across Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, creating many happy memories.
Jeff is survived by his mother, Jan Chrisinger of Brainerd, Minnesota; his father, Gary Hallanger of Linden, Michigan; his siblings Layne (Marcia) Chrisinger, Lisa (Scott) Bender, Daniel (Karen) Hallanger, Laura (Brad) Pfeifer, David (Robin) Chrisinger, and Anne (Scott) Jendro; his best friend Eli Roeges; thirteen nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Lee Chrisinger, whom he called “Dad,” and his grandparents Norma and Maynard Hallanger, Doris and Charles McGough, and Eva and Harold Chrisinger, along with several aunts and uncles.
