Jeffery Redden, also known as "Nightowl," was born on July 4, 1967, in Fort Benning, Georgia, and passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at Willow, his home in Crookston, Minnesota, surrounded by his loving caregivers. Funeral service for Jeffery will be held at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Gary Barrett officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior.

Jeff attended Smith Station Elementary School in Smith Station, AL, Warren Elementary School in Warren, MN, Viking Elementary School in Viking, MN, and graduated from Marshall County Central High School in Newfolden, MN with the class of 1985. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Hawaii. He received his honorable discharge in 1988. After the army he attended AVTI mechanics college in Thief River Falls, MN.

He worked at Bridgeman, Thief River Falls, MN, Northern Pride Turkey Plant in Thief River Falls, Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, Ericco Manufacturing in Viking, and Wanzek Construction in Texas and Washington. His last work was at Polk County DAC. Throughout his life, Jeff was known for his problem-solving skills, especially when it came to mechanics and his passion for being a fork-lift driver.

Jeff enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, grilling, bonfires, playing cards, dice, bingo, and board games with his friends and family. He was an avid fan of rock 'n' roll music, concerts, and comedy shows. He was a collector of movies, CDs, Coke memorabilia, Coors Light items, owls and guitar picks. He loved animals, particularly his exotic snakes and beloved dog, TJ.

Jeff AKA “Big Jeff” was a man with a big heart, always willing to help anyone in need, earning a reputation as "Jeff to the rescue." He idoled Evel Knievel as a kid and lived his life like that. He had a love for fireworks, especially on the Fourth of July, which is his birthday. He was a very generous guy and made CD’s for friends and family. He loved being a mechanic, fixing and helping anyone.

He is survived by his devoted parents, Clinton and Nancy Redden of Seale, Alabama; sister Jennifer Redden of Newfolden, Minnesota; close nephews Austin his son Mason Redden, Cody (Stephanie) Peters, and close niece Amber her son Rylyn Redden; step-sisters Ramona Thaxton of Opelika, Alabama, Melanie Nolen and Leslie Smoot, both of Phenix City, Alabama, step brother Chad (Shelly) Peters of Viking, Minnesota, step sister Kris (Scott) Mostrom of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and brother Matthew (Lisa) Peters of Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Jeff also leaves behind his biological daughter Tanya Aery, son Lee (Brooklynn) Redden, long-time family friend Michelle Rose, and her children Mike, Bobbi, Samantha, and Tiffany. He was blessed with nine grandchildren, three godchildren, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. His best friend, “little Jeff” Koshenina, held a special place in his life, alongside the dedicated staff and housemates at Willow and the caring team at Polk County DAC. Many other work friends that turned into longtime friends.

Jeff was preceded in death by his son Jerry Redden, stepfather Gary Peters, grandmother Selma Peters, grandfather William Rosco Redden Jr., grandmother Hannah Camilla Redden, uncle James Redden, cousin Alan Redden, and aunts Margie and Lavada Davis; other family members and friends.
