February 25, 1959— March 13, 2026
Mattoon, WI
Jeff Steig of Mattoon passed away suddenly at Aspirus Langlade Hospital on March 13, 2026 at the age of 67. Jeff was born on February 25, 1959 to Alice and the late Donovon Steig. He was united in marriage to Paulette O’Leary. She survives.
In his younger days he was a mighty hunter and fisherman. In his older days he could gossip and joke with the best of them at the Mattoon barbershop. He was often referred to as the "Mayor of Mattoon”. He enjoyed all WI sports. He loved his family, even the Republican ones and especially his children and grandchildren. He drove slowly. He wasn't in any hurry to get anywhere, but he was never late.
He served on the Shawano County Library Board and served a few years on the board for the Village of Mattoon.
In addition to his wife, Paulette of Mattoon and his mother Alice Steig of Osseo, he is survived by children, Kari Reuter (Doug), Brandon Bong, Jessica Spencer (Aaron), Ellisa O'Leary, Jon Radke (Sara), Dusty Radke (Samantha) and Katie Steig; sisters, Ellen Steig, Valerie (Steve) Lund; brothers, Randy (Peggy) Steig, Jerry Steig, Mike Steig (Nancy) and Greg Steig (Lisa). He is further survived by grandchildren, Zoe, Charli, Raven, Aidan, Preston, Noah, Myla, Hayden, Sadie, and Ryker.
In addition to his father Donovon Steig, he was preceded in death by granddaughter Kennedy and niece Wendy.
A celebration of life for Jeff will be held on March 28th at noon at Quinn’s Pub Grill Banquet Hall in Deerbrook.
