Upon graduation, the two married and had their children, living in multiple places before settling in Louisiana in 1973. At the age of 35, Jeannie decided to return to school and graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University School of Nursing. She dedicated 25 years to being an RN, mostly in Breaux Bridge, LA, serving on the Presidential Council for Youth Health and Fitness and working with doctors and staff on infectious disease control. She retired from nursing when she and Dave moved to Covington, allowing them more time to enjoy traveling, camping and hiking to locations all over the US, as well as being closer to family. During their travels they met several long-time friends and found several favorite places, such as Branson, MO. They spent several trips exploring the Great Smokey Mountains and hiking the Appalachian Trail, usually with a furry companion at their side. Jeannie and Dave loved animals and had rescued several, including Jeannie's current cat, Emily.Once a month, Saturday mornings were reserved for the breakfast meeting of the "Old Farts Club", a group made up from the wonderful friends and neighbors Jeannie and Dave had made upon their moving to Covington. Jeannie always enjoyed a chance to eat out and catch up with friends.Unable to leave the medical field completely behind, Jeannie spent many years volunteering for the St. Tammany Parish Guild, primarily with the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
