August 20, 1942 March 4, 2026

Covington, LA

Jeannine Eva DuBois Punch of Covington, Louisiana, passed away suddenly on March 4, 2026, following a brief illness. Born on August 20, 1942, in Jamestown, New York, she was the daughter of the late Lewis E. and Florence M. Dodge DuBois.

A 1960 graduate of Jamestown High School, Jeannine was an active member of the award-winning Marching Band, serving as first chair clarinetist. There she met her first husband, Gary Brocklehurst. The couple married after graduation, had two children, and lived in several places before settling in Louisiana in 1973. At the age of 35, Jeannine returned to school and earned her nursing degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. She devoted the next 25 years to her career as a registered nurse, primarily in Breaux Bridge, where she served on the Presidential Council for Youth Health and Fitness and worked on infectious disease control.

She is survived by her children, Steven (Susan) Brocklehurst of Woodbridge, Connecticut, and Cathy Flemington of Covington, Louisiana; step-sons Robert (Morie) Punch of Folsom, Louisiana, and Glenn (Eva) Punch of Robert, Louisiana; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a niece, Danielle DuBois, and a nephew, Derek DuBois, both of Jamestown, New York; and her first husband, Gary (Nancy) Brocklehurst of Covington. She was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Punch, Jr., her step-son David Wayne Punch, and her brother and sister-in-law, Gary L. and Sandra K. DuBois.

After retiring from nursing, Jeannine and Dave enjoyed traveling, camping, and hiking across the United States, often accompanied by their beloved dogs. They cherished time with family and friends, including monthly Saturday breakfasts with their close-knit “Old Farts Club” in Covington. A lifelong animal lover, she rescued several pets, including her cat Emily. Jeannine remained connected to healthcare through many years of volunteering with the St. Tammany Parish Guild and the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. She was also an avid reader who volunteered with the Friends of the Library.
