Jeanette Saffold Otero, 83, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026.
Born in Alexander City, Alabama, on June 16, 1942, Jeanette was the daughter of the late Tom Saffold and Vera Curtis Hand. After graduating high school, she worked at St. Francis Hospital, where she served in a variety of roles dedicated to caring for patients. In her free time, she found joy in reading and sharing that passion with members of her book club. Above all, Jeanette was a kind and loving woman who cherished her family deeply.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Julius Otero; her son, Dr. Jay Michael Otero; her brothers, Eugene Saffold, Bobby Manuel Saffold, and Paul Darrell Saffold; and her sister, Bonnie Dunaway.
Jeanette is survived by her son, Darren Otero and his wife Lynn of Los Angeles, California; her two sisters, her twin Annette Sanchez of Phenix City, Alabama, and Marie Smith of Columbus, Georgia; her two granddaughters, Julianna Otero and Isabella Otero; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
