April 1, 1934— March 11, 2026
Memphis, TN
Jeanette "Nana" Cooley, 91, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on March 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family at Methodist Germantown Hospital. Born on April 1, 1934, in Booneville, Mississippi, to Olen and Leland Stacy, she was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Cooley, her son, Robert "Bob" Cooley, her sister, Ila Mae "Pete" Peoples, and her brothers, William "Bill" Stacy and Aubrey Stacy. She is survived by her grandchildren, Joseph Cooley (Ashley) and Allison Cooley (Lane Schmus), her three great-granddaughters, Madison, Ruby Jude, and Eliza Lou, her brother, Wiley Stacy (Linda), and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Together with George, Jeanette co-founded Mercury Printing Company, where she worked for over 30 years. She found deep joy in caring for others and loved hosting large gatherings of family and friends. She and George traveled together in their RV, and she delighted in spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanette kept the family connected through annual picnics, countless dinners, and holiday celebrations. A devoted member of Ridgeway Baptist Church, she also gave generously to her community through the Salvation Army, the Symphony League, the Memphis Zoo, and monthly gatherings with her birthday club. Even after the profound losses of her only child, Bob, and her beloved husband, George, she cared for both with unfailing love in their final days. Her generosity touched everyone who knew her.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the caregivers at The Village of Germantown who cared for Nana in her later years. Jeanette chose to donate her body to medical science through the Genesis Program.
