Oakdale, MN
Jean Marie Hudak-Johnson, age 72 of Oakdale, Minnesota, passed away on February 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on March 15, 1953 in St. Paul, Minnesota, Jean grew up in Maplewood and graduated from North High School in North St. Paul. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota. Her lifelong love of the ocean eventually drew her to Florida, where she embraced sailing, teaching children, and the simple pleasures of warm winters at the beach.
Jean’s greatest passion was caring for others, a devotion that deepened with the birth of her children, Josh and Bri. She was the devoted den mom for scouts, the dedicated sports mom and concert mom, and above all, a mother who loved her children with fierce tenderness. Nothing, however, brought her more joy than becoming “Amma” to her grandson Zach. The sleepovers, games, laughter, and silliness they shared were among the happiest moments of her life.
She is survived by her children, Josh (Katie) and Bri, her beloved grandson Zach, her childhood best friend Ruth, and many cousins she held dear. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Irene Hudak, and she leaves behind a life marked by her kind heart, gentle spirit, warm smile, and quiet devotion to family. She found deep contentment in reading, puzzles, baking, gardening, and collecting shells along the shore. Her memory will live on through the countless moments of love and laughter she created with those she cherished most.
