Jean Marie Flynn

Jean Marie Flynn

January 28, 1938 March 12, 2026

Lanham, MD

Jean Marie Flynn, 88, of Lanham, Maryland, passed away at home on March 12, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born in Washington, DC on January 28, 1938, to Loring and Myrtle (Limerick) Paul, Jean entered the workforce after high school and met her husband, Ashby Flynn, at PEPCO. They married in 1957 and settled in Lanham in 1959, where she lived for the rest of her life. After Ashby’s death in 1973, Jean worked hard to support her family and instilled a strong work ethic in her children. She cherished family vacations at the beach, first with her children and later with her growing extended family.

Jean will be remembered for the joy she brought to her grandchildren through sleepovers filled with pizza, movies, and trips to the bookstore. An excellent seamstress, she delighted in making Halloween costumes for them, and Easter was always special because of the egg scavenger hunts she created. She loved the Washington Redskins, reading, and working on puzzles. She retired at age 78 after many years as an administrative assistant in various industries.

Jean is survived by her children, Sheri Starliper of Mechanicsville, Candy Ezzat of Lanham, Dan (Terri) Flynn of Churchton, Tim (Nancy) Flynn of Glen Burnie, and Steve (Amy) Flynn of Stafford, Virginia, as well as fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Douglas Mitchel and Loring Paul, Jr.
