Jean Marie Braunschweig
Jesus called Jean home on Monday, March 2, 2026. Age of 96 years. Beloved wife of the late Ronald. Loving mom of Jill (Michael) Wood and the late Allison Roedel. Adored mother-in-law of Christopher (Frances) Roedel. Cherished grandma of Nickolas Roedel and Andrea (Jason) Roedel-Schroeder; Lauren (Garren) Krahn, Erin (Zack) Jaeger and Joseph Wood. Dear "GG" of Haylee Jane and Graham. Jean is also preceded in death by her parents Emma and Edmund Malkowski, her siblings Jack Malkowski and Betty Malkowski and brother-in-law Glenn (Yvonne) Braunschweig. She is further survived by other family members and friends.
Jean was born and raised in Milwaukee and was a graduate of South Division High School. After school she began working at the former M&I Bank in downtown Milwaukee. It was there that she met and fell in love with Ron. She later went on to work at Kohl's Department Store. When their daughters were younger Ron and Jean were active members of Ascension Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. There Jean served as a Sunday School teacher for several years. The family later went on to become members of Our Father's EV Lutheran Church.
Throughout her life she enjoyed baseball. As a young lady she was an avid fan of the Milwaukee Braves. Jean, her sister Betty and friends would often go to their home games as well as travel by train to watch them play away games. She later became a Brewers fan when they came to town and remained loyal to them until her passing. She will be remembered for being a wonderful cook and baker. Jean also enjoyed knitting, cross stitch, crocheting and was a talented seamstress. Over the years she crocheted many afghans for her family and friends. Jean loved creating beautiful things to share with others. She also loved reading mystery novels and owned hundreds of vintage books. She could often be found sitting in her, big comfortable wing chair reading a book any day of the week.
She loved having parties at her home and was an exceptional hostess. Jean loved traveling to Door County and loved even more margherita's at JJ's. She also loved traveling to England and all things English. She often took time for tea and shared that love with her daughter Jill. Jean and Ron also adored their grandchildren and frequently babysat. Those memories the grandchildren will always treasure.
She will be fondly remembered for her love of her family; children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand dog Raji.
