Jean C. Colton

Jean Charlotte Colton, 103, of Hampstead, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Long View in Manchester, Maryland. Born on February 26, 1923, in Pimlico, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Frank Kolb and Katherine Hirsch Kolb. She was the devoted wife of the late Richard J. Colton, Jr.

A graduate of Glen Burnie High School and Strayer’s Business School in Baltimore, Mrs. Colton began her career with the federal government, serving first with the War Production Board and later with the Department of Commerce. She went on to work at Holy Trinity Episcopal Day School, where she served as Admissions Director and assistant to the principal for thirteen years. A longtime member of Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church in Odenton, she found joy in reading, crocheting, gardening, traveling, and singing hymns. She held a special affection for German Shepherds, Ocean City, Maryland, and above all, her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Jean Catron of Hampstead; her granddaughter, Jeanie Catron; and her grandson, Ricky Catron, and his wife, Juls Catron. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Dolores K. Burton, and her son-in-law, Bill Catron.
