Jean Ashmore Pruitt

1930 — 2026

Hartwell, GA

Jean Ashmore Pruitt, age 95, of Hartwell, Georgia, formerly of Carrollton, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026. Born on June 17, 1930, in Bowdon, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Verna and Lela Rayburn Parker.

Jean devoted more than 40 years of her life as a seamstress at Sewell Manufacturing Company in Temple and Bowdon. A longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, she also served as President of the Carrollton Singles and as Senior Regent with the Carrollton Moose Lodge. She found great pleasure in music and dancing, frequently attending shows at the Lowell Opry House and embracing any opportunity for a drive. Above all, Jean cherished her family, hosting many reunions, and held her wide circle of friends close to her heart. She greeted everyone she met with a warm, beautiful smile and truly never met a stranger.

She is survived by her daughter, Medra Ashmore (Maxine Hicks); her sons, Anthony Ashmore (Margaret) and Greg Ashmore (Gladys); grandchildren, Chris Ashmore, Samantha Ashmore, Christopher Ashmore, Cody Jenkins, and Hillary Calix; and five great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bobby) Pruitt; her son, Mike Ashmore; her grandson, Dustin Jenkins; her sisters, Myrtle Turner, Sarah McLain, Myrleen Farlow Porter, and Lorene Butler; and her brother, Hoyt Parker.
