He was born on September 21, 1958, in Quincy, Illinois, to Jack and Wanda (Rudewicz) Flachs.Jay dedicated 42 years of his working life as a forklift operator with ConAgra Brands in Marshall, Missouri, retiring after a long and dedicated career.An avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, Jay also enjoyed Kansas City BBQ and attending Kansas City Monarchs baseball games and concerts. He loved spending time with his granddaughters.Jay is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Flachs of Kansas City, Kansas; his daughters, Amber Lewis of Liberty, Missouri, and Jacey Flachs of Knob Noster, Missouri, and her fiancé, Dustin Taylor; and his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Amelia, and Marissa Lewis of Liberty, Missouri, and Kortzlee Flachs of Knob Noster, Missouri.He is also survived by his brothers, Pat Flachs and wife True, Jack Flachs Jr. and wife Sue, Michael Flachs and wife Theresa, Paul Flachs and wife Kim, and Jeff Flachs and wife Shelly, all of Quincy, Illinois; and his sister, Kathy Sherfy and her husband Dave of Florida.Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Wanda Flachs, and his sisters, Sandra Brassfield and Joan Moore.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The V Foundation, 14600 Weston Parkway, Cary, North Carolina 27513, or online at https://donate.v.org.Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am.
