Kalamazoo, MI

Jason Gerald Cypret, a gifted auto painter and hand-drawn pinstriping artist, passed away on March 12, 2026, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Born on September 10, 1976, in Jackson, Michigan, Jason brought a distinctive character to everything he did, marked by meticulous attention to detail and deep loyalty to those he loved.

From childhood, his personality shone through in small, endearing ways, such as his habit of pulling his socks up to his knees, which never failed to bring smiles to family and friends. He cherished family vacations and camping trips, spent countless hours riding his bike, and found joy in playing Nintendo and watching action and ninja movies. These early experiences reflected his spirited and imaginative nature.

As an adult, Jason’s perfectionism and passion defined his work. He approached every custom vehicle and motorcycle with an unwavering commitment to excellence, transforming each project into a true work of art. Beyond his craft, he was known for his great sense of humor and his gift for storytelling, often ending his tales with the familiar phrase, “Long story short.” He also held a special love for dogs, finding companionship and comfort in the loyal pets he cared for over the years.

Though he faced and battled inner demons throughout much of his life, Jason found peace and acceptance through faith in Jesus in his final days. He is survived by his siblings Nicole (Dale) Harris, Aaron (Brea Arredondo) Cypret, and Todd (Lori) Cypret; his nieces and nephews Kaitlyn, Austin, Liam, and Cody; and his great-niece, Raelynn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nancy Cypret; Cecil Wallace; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Jason will be remembered for his artistry, perseverance, humor, loyalty, and the warmth he brought to every relationship. His presence and stories will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
