Janis Rezac

With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Janis Rezac of Mitchell, South Dakota, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Janis left this world on March 9, 2026 at the age of 86, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her mother Jennie Anderson (Hawkey); her husband Gene Rezac (Gene) of Mary's Church; and her parents-in-law, John, Leta Rezac, Dale, Zig Rezac, Phyllis, Harold Parlin and Marianna Anderson.

She is survived by: her daughter Lynne Schmidt (Ken) of Woonsocket, SD; her granddaughters, Amber Nelson (Joseph) of Rochester, MN and Kelsey Buford (Jace) of Tahlequah, OK; her great grandchildren, Garrison Nelson, Johnse Buford, Gemma Nelson and Jentry Buford; and her brothers, Jim Anderson of Oreana, IL, Ken Anderson (Joan) of Pierre, SD and Kurt Anderson of Huron, SD. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church (222 N Kimball St, Mitchell, SD 57301). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

The family has chosen a memorial to be given in Jan's honor for Alzheimer's Research (Fisher Center).
