Janie Ashworth Merritt

Janie Ashworth Merritt of Bahama, North Carolina, passed away on March 16, 2026, at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Rhew and Maggie Lou Rhew, her husbands Harold Ashworth and Bill Merritt, and her stepson Raymond Ashworth.

Janie is survived by her daughter Annette Faries and her husband John; her stepchildren Cammy Young and her husband Joe, Jane Adams and her husband Danny, and Harold W. Ashworth, Jr. and his wife Beth; her grandsons Trey Williams and his wife Melissa, Travis Williams, Jason Young and his wife Mary, Matt Young and his wife Marilyn, Steve Adams and his wife Stacie, and Brandon Adams and his wife Karla; and her great-grandchildren Brayden Williams, Luke Young, Tobias Young, Tucker Young, Hannah Young, Virginia Young, Isabella Pineda Adams, Benjamin Pineda Adams, Cameron Adams, and Zoe Adams.

She lived a long life rooted in family and faith, leaving behind generations who will carry forward the love and memories she created.
