Janice May Graton

October 2, 1944 March 12, 2026

Holderness, NH

Janice May Graton, 81, of Holderness, New Hampshire, passed away on March 12, 2026, at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon following a period of declining health.

Born on October 2, 1944, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Jack and Lucille (MacDonald) Armstrong. Janice was raised in Meredith, attended local schools, and graduated from Inter-Lakes High School. She later made her home in Holderness, where she worked in retail sales at the Tanger Outlets in Tilton and at Osco Drug.

She found joy in knitting, gardening, reading a good book with a cup of coffee, and making her signature strawberry jam and date-filled cookies. Janice was fiercely loyal to those she loved, possessed a sly and mischievous sense of humor, and never hesitated to speak her mind. She could strike up a conversation with almost anyone, including childhood classmates from decades earlier. Family gatherings were rarely quiet when she was present, especially during card games when her competitive spirit emerged. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enriching family life in countless small but meaningful ways.

Janice is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Laurent and her husband Kevin of Connecticut, and Kristin Fields and her husband Scott of Holderness; her grandchildren, Jedrek Laurent, Mason Laurent, and Audrey Fields; her great-grandchildren, Adonis and Maddux Laurent; her sister, Katheryn Armstrong of Tamworth; and her lifelong friend, Linda Vassil.
