Mineral Wells, TX

Janice Hope Johnson, lovingly known as Grandma Jan, passed peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on January 2, 1945, in Abilene, Texas, to Dee Gipson and Carrie (Baker) Gipson, she carried a quiet strength from her earliest days that touched everyone who knew her.

A devoted homemaker, Janice was the heart of her family. Her home was a place of warmth and unwavering love, where she poured herself into caring for those she cherished, making even the simplest moments feel special through her grace and presence.

A dedicated member of Beulah Baptist Church, she lived her faith through genuine kindness toward others and was cherished by her church family and community. She also found deep joy in the outdoors, whether tending her garden or fishing, discovering peace and sanctuary in nature that reflected the calm, nurturing spirit she brought to the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dee and Carrie Gipson, and her siblings Garland, Pauline, and Gary Gipson. Janice is survived by her husband, Larry Johnson of Mineral Wells, Texas; her daughters, Lisa Rittenbury (husband, Jammie) of Perrin, Texas, and April Heinecke (husband, Matthew) of White Settlement, Texas; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her extended grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. She is also survived by her sister, Celeta Joy Hemley, and her brother, Barry Gipson (wife, Cheri). Her family will carry forward the profound love she gave so freely throughout her beautiful life.
