Janice H. Battaglia

October 12, 1943 March 11, 2026

Downers Grove, IL

Janice Helene Battaglia was born on October 12, 1943, to Anthony and Loretta Svidron. She passed away on March 11, 2026, at the Oak Trace Wellness Center in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Janice attended St. Simon Elementary School in Chicago, Maria High School, St. Vincent Orphanage Infant Nurse School, and the College of DuPage. She married Thomas Battaglia on August 22, 1964, and together they raised three sons: Geoffrey Vito, Todd Anthony (Danielle), and James Thomas (Wendy). Their five grandchildren—Madison, Benjamin, Abbygail, Emily, and Anthony—were the center of her world. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she poured her heart into her family.

For many years, Janice served as a dedicated certified nurse at La Grange Hospital. She and Tom shared a love for travel and cherished their time at their Lake Como home in Wisconsin. In recent years, they lived at the Oak Trace Independent Living Facility in Downers Grove. A longtime parishioner at St. Mary of Gostyn Church, Janice was known for her unique spirit. She saw the good in everyone she met, placed service above self, and faced health challenges with quiet strength and without complaint.

Janice is survived by her husband Thomas, her three sons, two sisters-in-law Mary Ann Mosele and Rose Erwin, a brother-in-law Vernon Erwin, and many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Carol Ann Dawson Billick, and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
