JANICE HURST ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Green Hills Funeral Home - Middlesboro on Mar. 16, 2026.Janice Doreen (Ingram) Hurst passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 13, 2026, in her home in Athens, Alabama with her husband by her side.She was born on August 14, 1949, in Middlesboro, Kentucky to her late parents, Carrie and Grant Ingram.She is preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Ann "Sissy" Hurst; her sisters, Deanna Nadine Webb and Helen Bunch; and her brother, Earl Ingram.She is survived by her husband, Ellis Wade Hurst Sr., of Athens, Alabama; her son, Ellis Wade (Lavon) Hurst Jr., of Athens, Alabama; her granddaughters, Chelsey (Gabriel) Hurst, Traci (Scott) Crowder and Taylor (Jackson) Gowan; and her great-grandchildren, Malcolm Crowder, Cullen Crowder, Beckett Crowder, Mina Sanchez, and Ari "Quinny" Sanchez. She is also survived by her sister, Geraldine (Charles) Prater; her brother, Michael (Ruth) Ingram; her nephew, Dennis (Faye) Wright and her many other nephews and nieces.A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Janice (also know as "Mammy" to much of her family) will be remembered for her wit, her sass, and her strength.
