Janice Dean Reed

Mrs. Janice Dean Reed, age 68, of Rockmart, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 10, 2026. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 10, 1957, she was the daughter of the late James Howard Jorden and Wilma Rae Minor Jorden. Janice spent the greater part of her life in the Yorkville community and remained a woman of deep Baptist faith.

A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Janice married Benjamin L. Reed, Sr. on March 16, 1974. She was also a talented carpenter who took pride in crafting furniture and other items from wood. She found joy in fishing, camping, sewing, and crocheting, and she possessed a green thumb, lovingly tending to her plants and flowers throughout her life.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Kathy Higgins and Bonita Penland. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin L. Reed, Sr.; their two sons, Benjamin L. Reed, Jr. (Selena) and Paul Eric Reed (Melissa); her grandchildren, Jorden R. Reed, Julianne Reed, and Jackson Reed; her sister, Patricia Karen Reynolds; and her brother, James R. Jorden.
