January 18, 1955— March 14, 2026
North Windham, CT
Janice Ann Richmond, née Gulley, of North Windham, passed away on March 14, 2026, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 18, 1955, in Key West, Florida, to William and Gwendolyn Gulley, she and her brothers lived the transient life of a Navy family before settling in Ledyard. Active in 4-H throughout her childhood, Janice graduated from Ledyard High School in 1973. She attended Thames Valley, where she met the love of her life, Ted. The couple married on April 27, 1974, and raised three children in Waterford, where they created countless family memories.
Janice worked in the chemistry lab and records department at United Nuclear in Uncasville before stepping away to focus on raising her children. She later returned to school to earn her associate’s degree and joined the law firm of Embry and Neusner in Groton, where she thrived for many years, advancing to office manager before retiring in 2020. She cherished Christmas mornings, Thanksgivings in New Hampshire, camping trips in the big green van, her children’s sports and cheerleading events, and lively movie nights shared on the fold-out couch. For Janice, nothing mattered more than being together as a family.
She is survived by her husband, Theodore B. Richmond; their children, Ted Richmond II and his wife Beth of Montville, Tim Richmond and his wife Dana of Wilton, and Krissey Winder and her husband John of Salem; her brother William Gulley and his wife Patricia of Norwich; and her sister-in-law Wendy of Ledyard. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Holly, Nora, Eric, Chayse, Connor, Katherine, Ian, Andrew, Taylor, Johnny, Cameron, and Kaleb, and her great-grandson Malakai. Janice was predeceased by her parents, her brother David, and her in-laws Harold and Caroline Richmond.
