Janette Underwood

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janette Underwood (Waterloo, Iowa), born in Elma, Iowa, who passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Lenora Folkers (Kobliska) and Eldon Folkers; her husband Claude Underwood; her sons, Neal and Jay; her daughter-in-law Barbara Underwood (Glasgow); her siblings, Dean Folkers, Mary Ann Stepan and Audrey Fries; and her grandchildren, Nicholas Herman and Kelly Underwood.

She is survived by: her grandchildren, Bryan Duggan, Erin Duggan Brown (Bob), Mindy Underwood Gordon (Jay), Elizabeth Underwood (Cory Sweerin), Brandon Underwood, Ruby Hayes Hibben (Blake), Savannah Hayes Wiltfang (Nick), Isabelle Hayes Bewley (Bijan), Cooper Hayes (Brianna Birkland), Emery Herman (Eliza Bedig), Lenora Herman (Colton Ellison) and Stuart Herman; her great grandchildren, Tanner Underwood, Patrick Underwood, Brogan, Ellery Brown, Bennett, Maddux Gordon, Hazel, Delta Hibben, Rosalind, Otto Wiltfang and Palmer Bewley; her daughters, Barbara Duggan (Daniel) of Waterloo, Andrea Herman (Christopher) of Waterloo and Julie Hayes (Brian) of Cedar Falls; and her brothers, Dennis and Douglas Folkers.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A prayer will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service (400 South St, Waterloo, IA 50701). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (650 Stephan Ave, Waterloo, IA 50701).
